Why join BEW

Independent work,
with weight behind it.

  1. 01

    Establish Credibility

Assessors become part of an independent certification authority whose verification is intended to matter to investors, regulators, and markets.

  2. 02

    Expand Your Practice

Assessors can work within their sustainability, environmental, audit, or industry specialization.

  3. 03

    Flexible, High-Value Work

Assessments are project-based, typically involving 4–6 weeks of active work within an 8–12 week certification timeline.

  4. 04

    A Steady Pipeline

Organizations find and choose assessors through the BEW network, so assessment work comes to you across certification cycles.

  5. 05

    Professional Development

Assessors receive training, updates on sustainability standards, and access to a global peer network.

  6. 06

    Work with Impact

The role focuses on verification and constructive feedback rather than selling remediation to assessed organizations.

    • Contribute feedback on criteria and processes
    • Exchange best practices with peers

Our independence rule

Never consult for an organization you assess.

Not before, during or for 24 months after the assessment. Where gap-closure support is needed, assessors may recommend consulting partners. An assessor cannot become the organization's primary consultant.

24months of separation after an assessment before any consulting work
